The Holidays Are A Time for Family

For many of us, Thanksgiving can be a stressful time of year, both as a guest and as a host. With extended family coming to town to be together, sometimes, the accommodations can be a bit tight. As a host, you only want the best for your family, but sometimes, you just want to make the season less stressful for your loved ones. Sometimes, staying in a hotel can give your family some breathing room as they prepare the holiday feast! Plus, you can enjoy a relaxing morning as you take advantage of the amenities offered and leisurely prepare for the festivities to come!

Thanksgiving in NH

The Hotel Concord is located right in the heart of historic downtown Concord, NH. The holiday season is a beautiful time of year to enjoy all that Concord has to offer. Thanksgiving began in New England and there's no better place to be during the holidays. In fact, it was New Hampshire native Sarah Hale who after many years of letter writing, finally persuaded President Lincoln to declare the fourth Thursday in November a National Day of Thanksgiving in 1863.

Today the Thanksgiving spirit is alive and well in Concord. After you finish your meal and spend time with your family, make sure to stay around for the weekend. Black Friday shopping is a great way to spend the day after Thanksgiving in Concord. New Hampshire has no sales taxes, so your dollars go farther when you're buying gifts for the family, and downtown Concord is a great place to shop. You'll find everything from clothing and jewelry to home furnishings & decor, footwear, art, books music, antiques, handmade and local products and more all within walking distance of The Hotel Concord.

Not only will you have plenty of shopping opportunities, but downtown is also home to a performing arts center, museums and a large variety of cafes, pizza parlors, delis, restaurants, and delicious handmade treats.

After the shopping is done, make sure to save time to attend a Concord tradition, the 43rd annual Christmas Tree lighting ceremony with your family. This annual tradition dates back to 1986 and is the official start of the holiday season to New Hampshire! The event features a visit from Santa Claus, music, horse-drawn carriage rides, the Lighting of the Tree, food, and fireworks to end the celebration. It takes place at the State House Plaza, 107 North Main Street, which is just a short walk from The Hotel Concord and happens this year on November 29th from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. It's a special evening that will make everyone in the family smile!
